He made the remarks at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development in the first quarter of 2016 and objectives for the future.
Despite a fall in gross domestic product in the first quarter of this year, a growth is forecasted in this field during the year, the president said.
President Aliyev stressed the importance of the progressive development of the financial and economic sector.
The head of state noted that measures are being taken in connection with the implementation of regional development programs, promotion of investments and the creation of the transport corridors North-South and East-West.
The president said at the end of this month Baku will host the 7th Global Forum of UN Alliance of Civilizations, stressing that Azerbaijan plays an important role in multiculturalism and dialogue of civilizations.
President Aliyev expressed confidence that the positive dynamics in the country will continue in the coming period.
He went on to add that the business climate is being improved in Azerbaijan, entrepreneurs are receiving the state support, and additional measures are underway to promote investment and strengthen the banking sector.
