Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Iran`s supreme leader, told APA on Friday that he welcomes the cessation of hostilities on the line of contact between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops.
The advisor said foreign circles have played a role in an outbreak of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Velayati noted the importance of the Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Baku next year. “Sport events always have a positive impact on relations between different peoples.”

He added that both the Azerbaijani and Armenians athletes will take part in the sports games to be held in May on the occasion of Islamic Revolution`s Victory Day. “It shows that sports arena is the best opportunity for peace and friendship among nations and states.”
