Azerbaijani government largely fulfilled its promise to me
"During my visit to Baku in early March, the Azerbaijani government assured me that the necessary actions would be taken to release some prisoners. This promise made to me was largely fulfilled," PACE President Pedro Agramunt said in the opening of the Assembly
He was commenting on the release of so-called political prisoners in Azerbaijan.

Agramunt praised the Azerbaijani government’s decision to release those persons.

“I’m very happy that some of the prisoners who have long been in prison are now reunited with their family. We have to accept that the release of these persons is a positive move forward. I think this is also a goodwill gesture given by the Azerbaijani government towards continued cooperation with the Council of Europe,” said the PACE president.
