Purple illumination in the cities is made purposefully – in favor of one of Prince`s hit Purple Rain. The purple light received bridges in Minnesota, the home state of the singer. The cities like Clarksville and Boston followed the same example .
The stadium in New Orleans, where Prince had a performance in 2014, was also lit up in purple. The mayoralties in Baltimore, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, and a number of buildings in other US cities had the same illumination.
