Thousands of people from different countries, in particular Turkey, took part in the march, which started from the White House in Washington. The march called "March of Peace and Unity" was organized by the Turkish-American National Committee.
The march was attended by citizens of countries such as Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Iraq, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates and others.
On Apr. 14, the European Parliament called on Turkey to recognize the events of 1915 as the "Armenian genocide". While commenting on the European Parliament`s actions, Volkan Bozkir, Turkey`s minister for European Union affairs, said that this demand is groundless.
Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey`s predecessor, the Ottoman Empire, committed the so-called genocide against Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. While strengthening the propaganda of "genocide" in the world, Armenians achieved its recognition by parliaments of some countries.
