He made the remarks during the press conference following the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku Apr. 29.
“I welcome Azerbaijan’s desire to move forward in the issue of visa facilitation. Communication between people is very important,” the FM said.
He recalled that Malta is going to president the EU in 2017, during which the country will pay a special attention to the European Neighborhood Policy.
The FM added that the Netherlands, Slovakia and Malta prepared documents on the neighborhood policy.
He said the EU policy during Malta’s presidency will be different from the previously conducted.
“We will offer specific programs for each country. Each country must fulfill its obligations,” said the FM. “We can start the process of visa facilitation upon fulfillment of certain requirements.”
