French authorities detain 18 over May Day demonstrations
As many as 18 people were detained in Paris and other regions following the May Day demonstration in Paris, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said.
According to the statement, several individuals threw stones at police in Paris. Two people, one of whom was a policeman, were injured in the French capital.

"A total of 18 people were arrested in Paris and in the provinces. Like all those who break the law, they will answer for their actions in court," Cazeneuve said in a statement, as quoted by his ministry, on Sunday.

On Sunday, clashes broke out when a group of young men, hiding their faces behind motorcycle helmets and hoods started throwing garbage and bottles at police. The police used tear gas to disperse activists.

According to the trade union organizations involved in the May Day demonstration about 70,000 people attended the rally in French capital.
