Azerbaijani FM responds to provocative question of Armenian journalist

During the press conference, Armenian journalist who lives in the Czech Republic gave a question to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister E. Mammadyarov in connection with the events taken place on April 2 at the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Responding to the provocative question that person, the minister said that the events on April 2, began directly due to the Armenian provocation, the head of the press service of the Foreign Ministry Hikmet Hajiyev told: "The Minister said that peaceful Azerbaijani population was subjected to heavy shelling by the Armenian Armed Forces, leaving many dead and injured. Azerbaijani Armed Forces have taken countermeasures ensuring the safety of Azerbaijani civilians.”

The minister noted that the international community recognizes and supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan: “The minister added that the settlement of the conflict should be carried out based on the four UN resolutions, the Armenian occupying forces should be immediately and unconditionally withdrawn out of Azerbaijani territories according to UN Security Council resolutions. The minister also said that the Armenian armed forces continue to commit provocations. On 27-28 April as a result of provocation by the Armenian armed forces, Azerbaijani civilians again were subjected to heavy shelling in areas close to the contact line. As a result of these fires two people died and 8 were wounded. "

Mammadyarov also noted that as a result of Armenian aggression and occupation, the civilian population in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan was subjected to ethnic cleansing. As a result, more than 1 million Azerbaijanis have become refugees and IDPs.

Noting that Armenia commits crimes against humanity, including war crimes in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, the minister cited the example of the Khojaly genocide. He noted that the Armenian armed units in one night destroyed the entire population of Khojaly town.
