Turkish Police detained eight suspects in Istanbul car blast
Turkey`s law enforcement agencies` employees detained eight suspects in a blast of an explosives-laden car in the largest city of Istanbul, local media reported Friday.
On Thursday, a car explosion took place near a military site in the Sancaktepe district of Istanbul, injuring up to nine people.

As a result of the raids in Istanbul`s districts of Sultangazi and Gaziosmanpasa, police detained eight people on suspicion of implication in the explosion, the Hurriyet newspaper reported.

According to the daily, the terror attack could have been perpetrated by the Kurdistan Workers` Party (PKK).

In recent months, Turkey has been hit by numerous terror acts, with both Islamist and Kurdish militant groups allegedly responsible for the appalling atrocities.

Relations between Ankara and the Kurdish ethnic minority, both inside the country and in neighboring Syria and Iraq, have been progressively worsening. Ankara has been carrying out a campaign against the PKK, which seeks to create a Kurdish state in parts of Turkey and Iraq.
