by Shahin Gojayev

The Armenian Media made news two days ago that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan awarded the soldiers who fought in the April fights against Azerbaijani Army. Sargsyan awarded lieutenant, major, colonel, private soldiers as well as women fighter, Yurida Gabrielyan. The identity of this woman has not been revealed yet.

The studies suggest that Yurida Gabrielyan serves in the Armenian Armed Forces on a contract basis. She has served in Karabakh as head intelligence officer- sniper.

Yurida opened fire at the manpower, machine guns and special positions of the Azerbaijan Army using snipers and ensured to implement the combat mission of the Armenian side during the April fights, the Armenian media reports. Consequently, she was awarded with `Courage` prize.

Let`s review where and how 23 years old Yurida Gabrielyan was trained as intelligence officer-sniper until her service in the Armenian Army. Bear in mind that the training of professional intelligence officer- sniper takes a long time.

` Armenian General Benevolent Union` (AGBU) was established on April 15, 1906, in Cairo, Egypt, by the initiative of renowned national figure Boghos Nubar and other prominent representatives of the Egyptian-Armenian community. The AGBU is a large network and aimed to assist the Armenian people to be organized in the Ottoman Empire.

With the onset of World War II, headquarters were moved to New York City, New York. AGBU currently operates with an annual budget of over 45 million dollars. AGBU preserves and promotes the Armenian `cultural heritage` in social fields and ensures the operation of 500,000 Armenians in 31 countries and 75 cities humanitarian programs.

AGBU has centers, study groups and offices which carry out different programmes in the field of culture, tourism and education. Furthermore, the organization specially prepared the Scout department. The first group of scouts was established in 1940, in Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria. Moreover, the scout department of the AGBU was founded in Argentine, Armenia, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Uruguay and the USA.

Armenian teenagers, who are selected in above mentioned training camps are educated in the educational centers of AGBU (Armenian General Benevolent Union). Armenian youth are provided with special knowledge at early age in below mentioned schools.

• Maria Manoukian School – Buenos Aires, Argentina
• Nubarian (primary school) and Alex Manoukian (secondary school) – Montevideo, Uruguay

Every summer, the organization sends young intelligent officers from various parts of the world to Antranik Scout Camp, Dilijan.

According to some researches, Yourida Gabrielian serves as a chief intelligence officer and sniper in Armenian army, who is a trainee of AGBU. After a comprehensive research about this woman, I found Yourida Gabrielian’s account in social network using the name – Vanessa Gabrielian.

In the overview section of the account holder, AGBU Scout, Yerevan is written as her workplace. It made us investigate the department of Scout of AGBU. Along with this, other Armenian portals acknowledge that Yourida was trained by this organization.

Consequently, the `All-Armenian Charity Union` organization which operates as a charity union prepares potential fighters for the Armenian community. It becomes clear how many professional fighters who were trained in the Middles East are being brought to Karabakh, while observing the Lebanese, Syrian and Iraqi offices of the organization. Currently, the organization keeps sending Armenian female fighters like Yuridia to Karabakh.

Shortly after the April fights, the information spread on the deployment of 19 female snipers in the military units of Aghdere, Fuzuli, Jabrail and Hadrut regions. Female snipers were military officers of the 555th infantry regiment in Armenian Karchaxpyur region, 545th infantry regiment in Armenian Nubarashen region and 246th infantry regiment in Armenian Ijevan region. The majority of them were provided with the "Tross L96A1 / Arctic Warfare" sniper rifles made by the Britain`s "Accuracy International" company.

According to the investigations, female Armenian snipers were sent from the South America committed special cruelty in the Nagorno Karabakh. For example, former major and military correspondent of the Canada based `Berd news` newspaper, Suren Vartanyan writes: `No 01261 military unit in Berd region was ready to leave for Karabakh. Argentinian female officers were also there. All of them were female sniper mercenaries. They did not understand where they were and even what they fought for. They were brought to fight for religion and freedom of the churches. Canada based `Armenian Center` financed them. They fought quite well. I witnessed their fights in Asgaran and Mesheli regions. I have made additional reports about them at the `Armenian Unity Conference` held in Akhalkalaki.` (Rovshan Velizadeh Genocid-Ecocid ... “Georgia. `Javakheti news` newspaper. S.Vartanyan. October 16, 1991).

In this regard, it would not be true to neglect the above-mentioned camp and `education centers`. Thus, we have to reveal the illegal activities of the organization network, ranging from Australia to South America.
