Cameron said at the opening of the summit that corruption is the cancer at the heart of many of the world`s problems, such as extremism, people not paying taxes and money laundering. He urged attending parties to coordinate and tackle the global problem.
The summit focuses on three areas: exposing corruption and increasing transparency, tackling corruption and focusing on law enforcement, and driving out corruption in the long-term.
Corruption in sports will also be addressed briefly during the summit.
The summit is expected to achieve some outcomes including specific policy actions agreed to tackle the use of anonymous companies to hide the proceeds of corruption, promote government transparency, and improve law enforcement cooperation to prosecute the corrupt and seize stolen assets.
