Metsamor is a serious danger to 5 countries including Azerbaijan and Armenia itself.
Member of Committee on Security and Defense Issues of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, MP Elman Mammadov told: ` International organizations need to take StopMetsamor petition seriously . Besides, relevant bodies need to take immediate measures`.
He told: `Metsamor NPP should be halted. Its operation term has been expired. The current state of Armenia does not allow to restore the plant. The so – called NPP is a threat to not only Armenia, but also to the whole region. Neighboring countries, as well as Azerbaijan appealed to relevant bodies with their suggestions at the state level. Armenia and its governing military junta are in co-operation with powerful terrorist organizations. They transmit radioactive materials to various terrorist organizations by smuggling. Azerbaijan has informed the UN, OSCE and International Atomic Energy Agency several times`.
Moreover, Armenians are busy with illegal smuggling radioactive materials, various explosive materials, shells and mines.
Recently, Ministry of Defense has disclosed the chemical compound of the weapons used in Tartar.
In this regard, Armenia should be enforced and Metsamor NPP should be halted.
MP, Member of International Affairs Committee of Parliament Asim Mollazade told: `Metsamor may create Chernobyl disaster in the region. It also poses a threat to the ecological situation in neighboring countries`.
He said that primarily serious steps need to be taken by the International Atomic Energy Agency for the closure of the power plant.
`Besides, some Armenian public figures also support the closure of Metsamor NPP. Armenia prepares dirty bomb and threats Azerbaijan with its nuclear weapons. We have to deliver the fact to the international organizations and world`s leading countries. `
The close co-operation of Armenia with the international terrorist organizations increases the level of danger, Asim Mollazade said.
`Azerbaijan should inform all international organizations on the issue. Metsamor NPP poses serious threat to not only Armenia, but also its neighboring countries. That is, dumping of nuclear wastes of NPP to Kura and Aras rivers will cause serious ecological problems in the 4 neighboring countries. The Armenian territories completely belong to Kura-Aras basin. Nuclear wastes of the plant are dumping into the Caspian Sea through Kura-Aras rivers. It is very dangerous issue. Moreover, various types of diseases were revealed as a result of using contaminated water. `
The substances dumping from the NPP into the rivers can cause any disease in human body, the member of the Health Committee of the Azerbajiani Parliament, Musa Guliyev told.
`As heavy metals are thrown into rivers without utilization, the level of radiation in the region increases. It can cause oncological, blood and endocrine system diseases. Heavy metal intoxication may lead to the chronic and genetic diseases.That is why, Metsamor NPP poses really serious threat to people. Azerbaijan should take substantial steps on the closure of the NPP.
As a conclusion, Azerbaijani MPs reiterated that they will again appeal to the international organizations on the problem.
