Under the instruction of Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) Elmira Suleymanova, members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) without notice have visited the Baku Detention facility of the Justice Ministry
The visit was aimed at examining the appeals received, the conditions of detention and treatment of prisoners, as well as studying the situation in connection with the relevant documentation.

NPG members met separately with Bayram Mammadov and Giyas Ibrahimov.

During the medical examination of the persons in the presence of a NPG physician, no signs of injury were found on their bodies.

At the same time, the documents affirming the legality of their detention and medical cards were inspected. During the inspection, it was revealed that those persons passed initial medical examination when they were taken to the detention facility and no signs of injury were found on their bodies.

Mammadov and Ibrahimov said that they are satisfied with the conditions of detention and treatment in the facility, and they can freely contact their family members by phone, receive parcels and meet their lawyers without any problem.

Other prisoners, who were received by the NPG members, did not express dissatisfaction with the conditions in the facility.

The General Prosecutor`s Office was informed about the outcomes of the visit.
