“They [two pilots] are still in the military hospital in Kandahar province. Work is underway to solve issue related to the repatriation of the two survivors and the body of the killed Ukrainian citizen,” the statement said.

Ukraine’s Embassy in Tajikistan accredited in Kabul and Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Consular Service are in contact with the families of the injured Ukrainian pilots, said the statement.

A Silk Way Airlines cargo plane crashed after taking off from Dwyer Airport in Helmand province in southern Afghanistan on May 18, killing seven people.

The State Civil Aviation Administration of Azerbaijan reported that the rented plane was managed by international crew, which included a citizen of Uzbekistan (the captain), three citizens of Ukraine and five Azerbaijani nationals.

A commission has been established to investigate the accident. The commission members have already arrived in plane crash site.
