75% of solid waste in Azerbaijan recyclable

The US Environmental Protection Agency estimates 75% of solid waste is recyclable, the EU Embassy in Azerbaijan twitted on Saturday.

US ambassador’s spouse Mrs. Anna Cekuta took part in the 1st-ever collection of cardboard, paper, and plastic waste for recycling in Azerbaijan, the embassy wrote.

The US embassy said it’s pleased to partner with Azersun Holding to support recycling in Azerbaijan

The embassy is working to reduce its environmental footprint in Azerbaijan.

“Recycling industries benefit the economy – a $47 billion industry in the US – and could create jobs in Azerbaijan. The US Environmental Protection Agency estimates 75% of solid waste in Azerbaijan is recyclable,” the embassy wrote.
