The quake hit at 9:48 a.m. local time (01:48 GMT) at the latitude of 28.36 degrees and the longitude of 87.60 degrees. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), according to the CENC.
The center also registered a 5.3-magnitude earthquake was t 10:05 a.m. with the epicenter located at a depth of 6 kilometers.
There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties.
