Georgian officials demand to stop Metsamor NPP immediately.

`Tbilisi supports the suggestions on stopping Metsamor NPP` - the Azerbaijani member of parliament, represented in the Georgian parliament, Mahir Darziyev told to AzVision.az.

According to MP, Armenian citizens who intended to sell nuclear wastes in Georgia were arrested.

`Metsamor NPP is a big danger to the world. Serious measures need to be taken to stop Metsamor NPP. Besides the danger of the nuclear power plant needs to be shown to the world states. Georgian people are sensitive on this issue. Certainly they will support Azerbaijan if they know the ecological problems and the possible danger of Metsamor NPP precisely. I assume that the region states should continue their efforts to stop Metsamor NPP`.

Another Azerbaijani MP of the Georgian Parliament Ali Mammadov has also expressed his concern regarding the Metsamor NPP.

Discussions have been held on the outdated nuclear power plant with the expired operation term for the years. The issue of closure of Metsamor NPP have been brought to the agenda several times. However, the international organizations did not give any response, he said.

`With the help of the NGOs and international organizations, we will highlight the issue again. The Georgian government will support Azerbaijan`s position regarding the problem. It is not only Azerbaijan`s, but also Georgia`s problem.`

Georgian MP Azer Suleymanov supported his counterparts` views adding that the Metsamor NPP must be shut down as soon as possible.

Georgian authority realizes that the plant is a big danger for the region. Unfortunately, Russia uses the plant to threaten Turkey and Azerbaijan. Of course, the extracted nuclear materials are being put on the black market, being sell to the terrorist organizations. The world unity, international community should stand for Azerbaijan for the closure of the Metsamor NPP.
