World Chess Olympiad in Baku
The 42nd World Chess Olympiad, to be held in Baku, creates a good opportunity to popularize Azerbaijan in the world, said Azerbaijan`s Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov May 24.
He made the remarks during a ceremony dedicated to the start of the countdown to the World Chess Olympiad in Baku.

The minister pointed out that very prestigious competitions are held in Azerbaijan. He noted that representatives of 180 countries will take part in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad.

Well-known chess players from all around the world will gather in Baku and it will be a great contribution to the development of the chess in Azerbaijan, said Rahimov.

"We are confident that the event will be held in Azerbaijan at the highest level," he added.
