Meanwhile, the British embassy in Cairo temporarily stopped rendering various services for security reasons, the British Foreign Office said.
"The British embassy suspended its activity December 7,” a statement says. “The office of the British Consulate in Alexandria works as usually."
The protests were held amid the acquittal of Egyptian ex-President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo last week.
