Baku hosting 2nd International Congress of Transplantation
The second International Congress on topical issues of organ and tissue transplantation kicked off in Baku on June 1.
The event is taking place in coordination with the Ministry of Health and with the participation of the Turkish Transplantation Society (TOND) and the Turkic World Transplantation Society (TDTD).

President of the Turkish Transplantation Society, founder and leader of Bashkent University and Clinic, Prof. Mehmet Haberal said that more than 400 representatives took part in the first international congress in Astana last year.

Haberal said the 3rd International Congress will be held in Ankara in 2017, noting that the Baku Congress will be attended by over 500 representatives from the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Turkey and Central Asian countries.

"Among the invited guests are President of the World Society of Transplantation Philip O`Connell and other prominent scientists. The Congress will give impetus to the development of organ transplantation in Azerbaijan and will play an important role in preparation of staff and social-legal rules, and granting of organs," he said.

It was noted at the event that during the two-day Congress reports on various problems of transplantation will be heard and discussions will be held in the plenary meetings, and scientific and practical seminars will be organized.

Note that TDTD, uniting transplantologists, nephrologists, surgeons from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries, was founded in 2014 by Professor Mehmet Haberal.
