Sniff sniff! `The Little Prince` trailer is out and it looks magical
Published in 1943 by Antoine de Saint-Exupery as Le Petit Prince, it has been translated into more than 200 languages, and will now be translated into another medium: film.
The movie is directed by Mark Osborne, of Kung Fu Panda fame, and the English version will feature the voice talents of James Franco, Benicio del Toro, Rachel McAdams and Jeff Bridges.
You probably noticed the old man in this trailer sounds nothing like Jeff Bridges (unless he’s learned to be fluent in French in the last couple years), so we have a translation for the French version of the trailer below:
Old man: Hey, I’m up here! Good evening.
TEXT: Rediscover a timeless story….
Girl: Once upon a time, there was a small prince who wanted a friend.
TEXT: …Like you’ve never seen before
Old man: I was traveling around the world, until one day a miraculous thing happened.
Prince: Please, draw me a sheep.
The movie will be released Oct. 7, 2015 in France. There’s no release date yet for the USA.
Needless to say, we’re excited what looks to be a touching, heartbreaking movie that seamlessly combines CGI and stop motion. We’re already readying our tissues.
