Khalaf Khalafov: Turkish-Russian rapprochement may have positive effect on Nagorno-Karabakh
“The recent rapprochement between Turkey and Russia coincide with Azerbaijan’s interests and we welcome that,” said Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov

K. Khalafov said Turkey and Russia are neighbors of Azerbaijan and leading countries of the region, stressing that Azerbaijan has high confidence in both countries and from this point of view, the rapprochement between the two countries corresponds to Azerbaijan’s interests”.

When asked how Turkish-Russian rapprochement would affect the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Deputy FM gave the following answer:

“Everyone is interested in the solution of problems in the region. Considering Russia is a mediator on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Turkey is neighbored with Armenia, it means the rapprochement between the two countries may have a positive effect on the settlement of the conflict. That’s what we’re expecting,” he added.
