She noted that the UK is the biggest investor in Azerbaijan.
The ambassador also pointed out that the UK government hopes for speedy peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev then greeted the guests.
He congratulated Queen Elizabeth II on her birthday.
"The UK is Azerbaijan`s main partner in the spheres of economy and energy," said Mammad-Guliyev. "The total volume of the UK investments in Azerbaijan is $20 billion."
Azerbaijan`s deputy foreign minister expressed hope that the relations between the two countries will develop in the non-oil sector as well.
Mammad-Guliyev expressed gratitude to the UK for its support to Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The UK can use its influence to move the process of the conflict`s settlement forward, he added.
"We hope the UK will play a more active role in this issue," said Azerbaijan`s deputy foreign minister.
