AzVision.az appealed Pope Francis with the letter on the release of Azerbaijanis taken hostage by Armenia and the closure of the Metsamor Nuclear power Plant.

The letter reads:

Dear Pope Francis,

You will visit Armenia in a few days. Your strong love to people increased the strength of Vatican. As a strong spiritual leader of the whole world and influential person we ask You to raise two issues in your meetings.

One of the issues is related to the two innocent Azerbaijanis who were taken hostage by Armenians. We kindly ask You to save Shahbaz Guliyev`s and Dilgam Askerov`s lives. Only You, our Pope who is rich in spirit and faith can save them. In July 2014, Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev were taken hostage by the Armenian soldiers on their way to Armenian-occupied Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan to visit their homeland. Their only sin was visiting the graves of their parents. They are still being tortured in the captivity. It has been impossible to save these innocent people in spite of the numerous appeals to the international organizations up to now. These two innocent people are urgently in need of Your help as both of them have health problems. Every moment they spend in the captivity makes them closer to the death. We do hope, You will not return a request for saving them from the prison. We ask You to require the release of Dilgam and Shahbaz. Let them know that God does not abandon them; he is with them!

Secondly, we would like You to bring up an issue of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant which causes hazard to the whole region in your meetings. The Metsamor NPP built in 1975 possesses the same technology with Chernobyl that led to the death of more than 40 thousand people. It possesses the oldest nuclear power plant technology. The Metsamor NPP-with its considerable reserves of radioactive materials and nuclear waste- is known as the most insecure power plant of the world. If the NPP leaks radioactive material, it can cause even bigger disaster rather than Chernobyl. Besides, the NPP lies close to earthquake-prone locality, the seismic stability of which is 8-magnitude. Besides, Armenians have adjusted a channel of export of radioactive materials through Georgia. As all know, the terrorists have an increased demand for radioactive materials for acts of terrorism in connection with growth of terrorist danger in the Middle East. Who knows, perhaps, Armenians are supplying terrorist groups with radioactive materials. Therefore, ISIL can buy radioactive materials from Armenian "dirty" businessmen in Georgia.

Taking into consideration all these facts we ask You to call for the closure of the Metsamor NPP immediately to prevent any tragic accident and illicit trafficking in radioactive materials in the future. Invite all of the institutions of the world to give their voices.
