Addressing the opening of the PACE summer session, Agramunt stressed the Azerbaijani government has freed a number of political prisoners this year.
“This is a very good initiative which indicates that the Azerbaijani government is open to cooperation,” he said.
The president noted that the Azerbaijani government continues political and constructive dialogue with the PACE to fulfill its international obligations on human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
Agramunt recalled that he have visited several countries, including Azerbaijan since January.
“What I saw is that the Council of Europe has a great role in all these countries which are willing to continue the cooperation with us”, he added.
