`European Commission is expected to receive mandate to start negotiations on strategic partnership with Azerbaijan`
The Council of the European Union is expected to give mandate to the European Commission to start negotiations on a strategic partnership with Azerbaijan in October this year.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev told the aforesaid at the conference “Mobility Partnership in Azerbaijan” on Thursday.

He said that Azerbaijan presented to the EU a draft agreement on strategic partnership in the Riga summit. “The document includes the expansion of cooperation in the field of migration. Signing of the document will raise the cooperation to a new level of strategic partnership and play a role for the future of the bilateral cooperation. We are also working on restoration of the political dialogue. In the second half of this year, the EU is expected to hold meetings of the sub-committees regarding Azerbaijan. We are going to continue negotiations on the aviation agreement as well”, said the deputy FM.
