Verbal duel between parliament speaker, MPs unacceptable – disciplinary commission
There can be disagreements and disputes in the Azerbaijani parliament, however a verbal duel between the speaker and MPs is unacceptable, Aghajan Abiyev, chairman of the parliamentary disciplinary commission, told.
A verbal duel erupted between Speaker Ogtay Asadov and MP Zahid Oruj as the speaker warned the latter to speak on the subject during the discussions on amendments to the Tax Code held at the last plenary meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament`s extraordinary session on June 24.

Abiyev noted that the parliament speaker ordered the disciplinary commission to take an appropriate action in relation to MP Zahid Oruj.

“In the coming days the disciplinary commission will hold a meeting, during which this issue will be discussed. Zahid Oruj will be invited to the meeting and be warned that such behavior in relation to the parliament speaker is unacceptable,” the commission chairman said.
