Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Armenia comments on “Armenian genocide”
“Kazakhstan regrets 1915 events. We know the issue of genocide is too sensible for Armenia. However, if we’re speaking about recognition of the genocide, this must firstly be questioned to the side who is accused of committing this genocide, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Armenia Timur Urazayev said at the press conference held in Armenpress agency.

“Kazakhstan also had a lot of victims in 1920-30. As you know, 40 percent of the population in Kazakhstan died of starvation. However, at the same time, our government does not go that way, despite the fact that Kazakhstan also debates regarding the genocide against the Kazakh people. If we start talking about the condemnation of genocide, then a question arises, that is “who is to blame?” We don’t want to make moves that would deteriorate Kazakhstan’s relations with other countries. This will cause additional problems. We believe that Turkey and Armenia will reach a consensus in this regard”, the diplomat said.
