Azerbaijani NGOs have adopted appeal to protests against `Forum 18` which is a Norwegian human rights organization.


`A number of international NGOs which deal with the protection of human rights display biased behavior against Azerbaijan such as unilateral approach towards the issues and a lack of study of themes. Accordingly, `Forum 18` has declared Taleh Baghirov who was accused for murder, terrorism and mass riot ` a prisoner of honor `, the appeal reads.

-`It must be noted that Taleh Baghirov has founded `Muslim Movement` which is an organized crime group and provided the group members with different kinds of firearms, ammunitions, explosive substances and equipment. Furthermore, he planned to establish a religious country which would be ruled with Shariat laws violating the socio-political stability, to lead the provocations, mass riot and terror attacks and changing the structure of the constitution`, the appeal says.

Taleh Baghirov and his radical armed group discussed the ways of mobilization of the people against the government holding illegal meetings in Naradaran settlement, Baku and distributed summons.

NGOs assert that it is completely unacceptable to arrest members of radical armed religious group accussed of murder and violent crimes and head of the group, Taleh Bagirov declaring them as `prisoners of honor`.

`How can a person who participated in terrorist operations, resulted in 6 deaths and created danger for people`s lives be `prisoner of honor`?! The attitude of `Forum 18` organization to the member of analogical religious group arouses anger and regret in the light of deaths of hundreds of civilians as a result of civil war with the participation of religious movements in various countries, especially, Middle East.

As civil society institutions, we offer our rejection to the institutions` efforts to declare people as `prisoners of honor` who committed major crimes. It is a jealous approach to the flourishing prestige of Azerbaijan at international level where global scale humanitarian forums, international sports games are hosted.

We call all humans rights organizations to refrain from distortion of the essence of events and biased approach to our country.
