200th anniversary of German settlers’ arrival in Azerbaijan to be celebrated within UNESCO
The 200th anniversary of the arrival of German settlers in Azerbaijan will be celebrated within UNESCO, said Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
He made the remarks at a briefing following the talks with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Baku June 30.

The FM recalled that the Germans settled in Azerbaijan for the first time in 1817.

Mammadyarov noted that a letter has been sent to the German Foreign Ministry regarding the revival of German culture in Azerbaijan.

According to him, the letter includes different issues, including the restoration of Siemens Museum in Gadabay and the house museum owned by the Germans in Goygol.
