“The U.S. Congress has allocated $75 million to Georgia, $25 million to Armenia, and $23 million to Azerbaijan. In the recent years, the aid allocated for Armenia has been $2 billion and that for the Karabakh separatists over $83 million”.
MP Zahid Oruj stated this today in his speech at the parliament’s meeting.
The MP said that if the U.S. cuts this aid, it will help the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem: “I call on the European Union and the U.S. to halt their aid to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and prohibit the deputies’ visits”.
Z. Oruj also said the Azerbaijani Parliament should appeal to the European Parliament and demand to prohibit once and for all MEP’s visits to the Azerbaijani territories under control of the separatist regime.
Speaker Ogtay Asadov noted such a request has already been made to the European Parliament.
O. Asadov also mentioned that Azerbaijan also has supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine but refused to join the sanctions on Crimea: “Because we demand the same sanctions are imposed on the separatist regime in Nagorno-Karabakh,” he added.
