South Korea issues nationwide Encephalitis warning
South Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday issued a nationwide encephalitis warning, urging residents to get vaccinated if needed and to pay attention to personal hygiene, local media reported.
The health authority said that it had registered over 500 mosquitoes of the Culex tritaeniorhynchus species – the carriers of the disease — in the country, according to the Yonhap news agency.

The virus can cause acute inflammation of the brain, with severe cases leading to death.
