Petro Poroshenko met with Chairman of National Assembly of Azerbaijan
In the framework of the official visit to Azerbaijan, President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Chairman of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Oktay Asadov.
The Head of State informed on the course of his visit, the results of the negotiations with President Ilham Aliyev and the session of the Council of Presidents. Petro Poroshenko expressed belief that intensification of Ukraine-Azerbaijan cooperation, restoration of the Council of Presidents and implementation of a series of joint projects would yield positive results. “This provides optimism and we are confident about our future,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President noted the importance of maintaining constant Ukrainian-Azerbaijani interparliamentary dialogue with maximum use of declared strategic partnership between the two countries.

Oktay Asadov noted the potential of bilateral relations between the two countries. “I am glad that we have groups of friendship in our Parliaments. The intensity of interparliamentary relations mainly depends on them,” the Chairman stressed.



The Chairman of the National Assembly has also noted the interaction between the Ukrainian and Azerbaijani MPs in the framework of the international organizations. Special attention has been paid to the issue of territorial integrity. He emphasized that Azerbaijan supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence. “I hope that justice will prevail and our countries will restore territorial integrity,” he said.

The parties have emphasized the need for coordination of interaction between the two states in the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Council of Europe and other international structures.
