Baku, Tehran to discuss recognition of Iranian students
The delegation’s visit will begin on December 22.
“The meetings are planned to be held with the management of the Ministry of Education, the Azerbaijan Medical University and other universities during the four-day visit,” the diplomat said.
Iran’s Ministry of Health said earlier that the Azerbaijan Medical University’s diplomas are considered invalid in Iran.
Around 836 students study in Azerbaijan. Around 236 of them study in the Azerbaijan Medical University.
Adviser to Iran’s Minister of Justice Shahrukh Hidayati’s visit to Baku was scheduled for December 14 to discuss this issue, but then it was postponed.
The Iranian delegation will also meet with representatives of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice. The extradition of prisoners of the two countries and other issues in the field of justice are planned to be discussed at the meetings.
Around 130 Iranian citizens are serving a sentence in the prisons of Azerbaijan for drugs related crimes. Around 52 more Iranian citizens expect the verdict.
Around 14 Azerbaijani citizens are serving a sentence in Iran’s prisons.
