Turkey`s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that 161 people were killed during the military coup attempt in the country, PM said in his live speech bto the reporters.
Yildirim said 2,836 servicemen involved in the military coup attempt have been arrested in Turkey.
The forces attempted to overthrow the government through military means, will answer for their actions, added the prime minister.
He also noted that the movement of Fethullah Gulen (the US-based Islamic cleric) stands behind the attempted military coup.
Yildirim said despite the efforts of this movement, the people`s will has won in Turkey.
The prime minister also noted that the arrests of servicemen, involved in the military coup, are continuing.
A coup attempt was launched in Turkey late on July 15 by a group of Turkish military servicemen.
There were reports saying that Istanbul`s Ataturk Airport was seized. Reports also indicated that 46 military men headed the attempt.
Later, Turkish officials announced that the attempt was foiled.

Yildirim made the statements in his video message posted on his Twitter account.
