Novruzov said that a group of military within the Turkish army was forced to take such a step. “The role of the army in the developments is out of question. The Turkish army and Turkish people stood by the Turkish state”, he added.
Chairman of the United Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev assesed the developments as a provocation against Turkey: “Foreign countries, as well as some represented in political power may have a role in this matter. In my opinion, the purpose is more than a serious coup attempt, but to drag Turkey into chaos.”
Hasanguliyev noted that it is expected that mass arrests will take place and democratic institutions will freeze their activities in Turkey for a while. The MP stressed that there is no winner in military coups. “Such an incident in any country is not desirable for the country`s political power, but is a tragedy for the country”, Hasanguliyev added.
The Divan of Musavat Party condemned all military coups against legitimate political power, as well as yesterday’s coup attempt in Turkey by a group of the Turkish Armed Forces as an unacceptable method to replace the current government. The Divan expressed deep disappointment over the developments which claimed people’s lives in the military coup and seriously damaged the interests of the Republic of Turkey.
