Baku hosts conference dedicated to National Press Day
A conference titled “Media Coverage of Family, Women and Children Affairs: Achievements and Prospects” was held in Baku July 20 on the occasion of July 22 – National Press Day.
The conference was co-organized by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the Press Council.

Delivering keynote remarks at the event, State Committee chairperson Hijran Huseynova said that the Azerbaijani media is successfully fulfilling its education mission.

She stressed the need for protection of the confidentiality of individuals during media coverage of family issues.

In his speech, Aflatun Amashov, MP, chairman of the Press Council said the Azerbaijani model of family is an example to the whole world.

He said that the Azerbaijani press has played a special role in strengthening the national and spiritual values and preserving the purity of the Azerbaijani language since the publication of newspaper “Ekinchi”, which also covered family and children issues.

Addressing the event, Vugar Aliyev, deputy head of the department on social political issues of the Presidential Administration, said that the Azerbaijani government has announced family, woman and children affairs a priority.

Azerbaijan has joined a number of international conventions in this sphere, said Aliyev, emphasizing that the Azerbaijani model of family has become an institution built on a sound foundation.

In turn, Sona Aliyeva, deputy head of the National Television and Radio Council said that Hasan bey Zardabi called on all families to educate their children.

“He knew very well that the development of people is going through education,” said Aliyeva.

Other speakers were the executive DIRECTOR of the State Fund for Support of Mass Media Development Vugar Safarli, and the editor-in-chief of New Azerbaijan newspaper, MP Hikmat Babaoghlu.

At the end of the conference, several media outlets were awarded for professional coverage of family, women and children affairs.
