`Azerbaijan plays significant role in establishment of Turkic peoples
"There is a need to train professional translators to strengthen cultural ties between the Turkic-speaking peoples. We should learn each other`s language and take steps for our societies to obtain regular information about the culture and social life of the Turkic-speaking countries", Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) Jandos Asanov said at the fifth meeting of the National Commissions and Committees for UNESCO of TURKSOY member states in Baku.
“President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has proposed the creation of a single media center in order to strengthen the cultural ties between mass media outlets of the Turkic-speaking countries and organize their coordination. We are working in this direction. However, we have achieved many successes together. The establishment of the International Turkic Academy and the Turks` Cultural Heritage Protection Fund with its central office in Baku will contribute to the strengthening of fraternal relations between our peoples. The late Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev, current President Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva have taken significant steps toward the rapprochement of the Turkic word and protection of cultural heritage. The cooperation between the Turkic-speaking countries in UNESCO is noteworthy”, said the TURKPA Secretary General.

Referring to the need for further strengthening of the Assembly, J. Asanov said Azerbaijan took over the TURKPA chairmanship this year.

“We believe in positive changes in the activity of TURKPA. Azerbaijan plays a significant role in the establishment and development of Turkic peoples’ union”, he added.
