`Azerbaijan condemns, in strongest possible terms, coup d’etat attempt in Turkey`
The Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan condemns, in strongest possible terms, recent coup d’etat attempt in Turkey aimed at overthrowing the democratically-elected government, said a statement from Azerbaijan’s Permanent Mission to the OSCE.
The statement was made at the 1110th meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on current developments in Turkey.

“This was an outrageous crime against Turkey’s statehood, as well as the will and choice of the people, which was foiled by the brotherly Turkish people in unity and solidarity. We commend the exemplary courage displayed by the people of Turkey in face of inhumane attacks against civilians by the perpetrators,” said the statement.

According to the permanent mission, in his letter to the President of Turkey Rejep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan strongly condemned this crime against the Constitution and democracy of Turkey. “The president expressed his confidence that as a result of resolute measures taken by the Turkish authorities to prevent the coup attempt demonstrating the unity of the People and Government of Turkey, the situation in the brotherly country would soon be normalized.”

Azerbaijan’s permanent mission underlined that in this challenging time Azerbaijan remains resolute in supporting People and State of Turkey in defeating threats to its unity, territorial integrity and statehood.
