`Normalization of Turkey-Armenia relations possible after liberation of Azerbaijani lands`
The ambassador recalled Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu’s meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku July 15, during which the bilateral relations, regional issues, as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were discussed. “Mevlut Cavusoglu reiterated that the Nagorno-Karabakh problem is as important for Turkey as for Azerbaijan. I think the minister didn’t express resolute position on the relations with Armenia. The Azerbaijani side always states that keeping Azerbaijani lands under occupation, Armenia is isolating itself from all cooperation activities in the region. The end of occupation and resolution of the conflict within Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity may pave the way for new projects that will involve Armenia. The minister only underlined this constructive position of Azerbaijan,” he said.
Ismail Alper Coskun also clarified the point regarding the phrase `Happy is the one who says I am an Armenian” which was sounded in the TV commercial prepared after the July 15 military coup and aired in all Turkish TV channels. “You rightly pay attention to the part about Armenians. Let the Azerbaijani people know that Turkey is also impacted as long as you are suffered from and angry for Armenia’s aggressive policy. But we should not forget that Turkey is going through turbulent times. You regard the issue from the point of view of Azerbaijan. But there were also sounded “Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds, and Armenians”. Thus, it is expressed that the Republic of Turkey came together after the military coup attempt as 80 million people did in the war of salvation. With reference to our minister’s statements, I welcome your assessment of Fatih Cekirge’s article and this campaign together. But they have nothing to do directly with each other. Our minister’s statements regarding the development of the region are good expectations”, said the Turkish ambassador.
