State Commission established to investigate explosion in Shirvan
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on establishment of a State Commission for investigating the causes of the explosion occurred at Araz defense industry plant of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry, and eliminate its consequences.

Under the order, the composition of the State Commission is as follows:

Chairman of the Commission:

Yagub Eyyubov - First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Members of the Commission:

Yavar Jamalov - Minister of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Zakir Hasanov - Defense Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Zakir Garalov - Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Medet Guliyev - Chief of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Vilayat Eyvazov - First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Salim Muslumov - Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Faig Tagi-zade - Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Abbas Valibayov - Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Mardan Jamalov – Head of Shirvan City Executive Power.

Under the order, the State Commission shall determine and carry out urgent measures to eliminate consequences of the accident investigating its causes and conditions, provide treatment and other necessary assistance for those injured as a result of the accident, inform the Azerbaijani president on works done. The Prosecutor General’s Office, the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Emergency Situations shall take investigative measures in connection with the accident.

The order comes into force on the day of its signing.

An explosion occurred in Shirvan city at Araz defense industry plant of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry on July 26. According to the information of the Defense Industry Ministry, there are no killed, and 11 people were slightly injured as a result of the explosion.
