 Europe establishes energy union against Russia
German BASF calls off contract with Gazprom
Germany’s BASF and Russia’s OAO Gazprom have called off an asset-swap deal amid mounting political tensions between Russia and the West.

The Kommersant newspaper reported that the European Parliament is developing a plan on establishment of EU Energy Union. This organization will be made publicly available in January, 2015. Herein, main points are common gas supply for European companies and imposing new restrictions to the capital of Russian companies in energy sector.

The newspaper also reported that it has got EP action plan on establishment of energy union in 2015-2016: “As provided in the several normative documents of Europe, this plan also includes significant items in connection with mutual relations with Russia, main gas supplier of Europe”.

The report says that though the main supporter of the idea is E European Council President Donald Tusk, the politicians don’t share same position. Particularly, German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on to be careful in this regard.
