Greece urges EU to make backup plan in case Turkey rejects migration deal
Athens expressed concern over the deteriorated relations between the European Union and Turkey, and called on the bloc to make a backup plan in case Turkey rejects the EU-Turkey migrant deal, Greek Migration Minister Yannis Mouzalas said Wednesday.
In March, the European Union and Ankara agreed on a deal, under which Turkey pledged to take back all undocumented migrants who arrive in the European Union through its territory in exchange for Syrian refugees accommodated in Turkey, on a one-for-one basis.

In return, the bloc pledged to accelerate the Turkish EU accession bid and introduce a visa-free regime.

"We are worried. Anyway, we need a Plan B," Mouzalas told Germany`s Bild newspaper.

His concern came after the relations between Turkey and the West deteriorated over criticism against Ankara`s crackdown on the opposition and civil liberties by the EU member-states after the recent failed coup attempt.
