Indonesian police arrest 6 militants planning attacks in Singapore
Indonesian police arrested on Friday a group of six militants suspected of planning terrorist attacks in Singapore, local media reported.
According to the Straits Times newspaper, the detainees were members of the KGR (Katibah GR) terrorist group based on the Batam island in northern Indonesia.

"We are grateful for the good cooperation by the Indonesian authorities and their actions to apprehend the group," Singapore Home Affairs Ministry was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

Following the attempted attack, the police were forced to boost security measures on the island and at its borders.

The attack plot "highlights the seriousness of the terrorism threat to Singapore," the ministry added.

The investigation continues, police have not disclose any other details yet.
