Azerbaijan to set new rule on gold and diamond imports
Next week Azerbaijan will change the procedure on precious stones and metals that are presented in written form at customs checkpoints of Azerbaijan.
This is according to the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision dated 8 July 2016 on amendments to the preferential and simplified rules for goods crossed from customs checkpoints by individuals for non-production and non-commerce purposes.

The decision will enter into force on Aug.8. Until now, 20g gold and golden materials, 0.5 carat processed, sorted, framed and consolidated diamond brought by individuals above 18 years of age used to be let in from customs checkpoints on a preferential basis. The amendments includes time limit on this issue. In other words, every individual will now be able to cross 20g gold and golden materials, 0.5 carat processed, sorted, framed and consolidated diamond once a month for personal use. Precious materials more than this amount will be reported to customs checkpoints in written form.

Until now, precious stones and materials worth more than 1,500 US dollars used to be reported to customs checkpoints in written form.
