Court denies Khadija Ismayilova’s appeal to leave country
The Baku Court of Appeal on Monday held a hearing on an appeal filed against the Binagadi district court’s verdict disallowing Khadija Ismayilova to leave Azerbaijan.
During the hearing, presided over by judge Vaqif Musaqulov, the appeal was denied.

Khadija Ismayilova said a cassation appeal will be submitted to the Supreme Court against this verdict.

Note that Khadija had been sentenced to seven years and five months in prison upon the judgment of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes. Her prison term was later shortened to three years and six months of conditional penalty after appealing to the Supreme Court with a cassation appeal. She was then acquitted of the charges on articles 179 and 308.
