SOCAR comments on arrest of Azerbaijani employees of Petkim
SOCAR has commented on arrest of former head of Petkim Petrokimya Holding A.Ş and more 12 employees, including Azerbaijanis.
“In connection with arrest of former employees Sadettin Korkut, Ilgar Mehmetoglu, Yasin Atak and other, we state that these issues are not related to Petkim and SOCAR’s activities in Turkey. This is a legal procedure carried out by Turkish relevant bodies. As always, SOCAR welcomes these procedures carried out by Turkish state bodies”, SOCAR said in a statement.

SOCAR also noted that Petkim and other enterprises of the SOCAR in Turkey are operating normally.

As part of the investigations following the recent coup attempt in Turkey, 12 of the 25 detained employees of Petkim Petrokimya Holding A.Ş. have been arrested on suspicion of having links with the FETO terrorist organization.

Among the arrested are deputy director general of SOCAR Türkiye Ilgaz Mehmetoglu, who is of Azerbaijani origin, Head of the Petkim Petrokimya Holding A.Ş. PR department Memduh Taslicali, head of the HR department, Raqif Farajov, who also is of Azerbaijani origin, sales manager Selim Bal, sales department manager Ibrahim Aydin, and others.

Note that Korkut was relieved of his duties on July 27.
