What a spoiler Cameo could mean for Thor: Ragnarok
Production of Thor: Ragnarok is underway, and the God of Thunder may be joined by yet another hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve known for some time that both Bruce Banner and his alter ego, the Hulk will play large roles in this film. But if new pictures from the set can be believed, Thor may be receiving a consultation from the newest addition to the MCU.
There are potential spoilers ahead. Consider yourselves warned!

Writer and director Daley Pearson – who happens to be a good friend of Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi – posted a few pictures from his set visit on his twitter account.

Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor is apparently back in New York City and traveling incognito. But the really interesting thing here is that the card in his hand has this address written on it: 177A Bleecker Street. It may not be as iconic as Sherlock Holmes‘ address, but comic fans know that’s the location of Doctor Strange‘s Sanctum Sanctorum. Could Benedict Cumberbatch be making an appearance in this movie?

It’s possible that Pearson and Waititi are simply playing a joke on Marvel fans, and that’s it. But there is a good reason to believe that Strange could appear in the film. By the time Thor: Ragnarok arrives next year, Doctor Strange will already be established in both the MCU and in the minds of moviegoers. So this film wouldn’t have to introduce him, or spend a lot of time building him up.

But why would Thor visit Doctor Strange? It’s simple. Stephen Strange could help Thor literally ask the Universe a few questions. In the Doctor Strange comics, the title character met Eternity, the being that was the personification of the Universe. If the Doctor Strange movie doesn’t introduce Eternity, then this would be an ideal time to do it.

Another theory is that Thor is looking for the Infinity Stones to keep them out of Thanos’ hands. And the good Doctor is rumored to have the Time Gem, which would eventually place him in Thanos’ path and possibly set up an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. Alternately, Strange’s experience with other dimensions could possibly help Thor travel to places that he would otherwise not be able to reach.

We’ll know more when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
