Magnitude 4.7 aftershock felt near Central Italy`s Amatrice
A magnitude 4.7 tremor was felt near the earthquake-struck central Italian town of Amatrice in the early hours of the day, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said Friday.
The jolts 5 kilometers (3 miles) northwest of Amatrice were registered at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles) at 04:28 GMT, according to the USGS. A 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook the administrative regions of Lazio, Umbria and Marche on Wednesday, killing at least 250 people and causing extensive damage to nearly 300 historic buildings. Prime Minister Matteo Renzi declared a state of emergency in the regions following an emergency session late Thursday that allocated $56 billion in aid to the affected areas.
