Italian embassy in Baku opens book of condolences in honor of quake victims
Italy’s Embassy in Baku on Tuesday opened a Book of Condolences to honor the victims of the Aug.24 earthquake.
Representatives of diplomatic corps in Azerbaijan, public figures and government officials signed the book.

At least 267 people were killed after a 6-magnitude earthquake struck central Italy on Aug.24. The Italian Civil Protection Department said the hardest-hit were Lazio town of Amatrice and nearby Accumoli. Two-day mourning was declared in Italy for earthquake victims.

Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Giampaolo Cutillo expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani leadership for their condolences immediately after the accident.

The Italian diplomat noted that the Roman catacombs restored on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation were not damaged.
